Ethical
Market Conduct
We
at the Kenneth J. Kalis Company believe that ethical market
conduct in the life, health and annuity industry is not only
the right thing to do but the best thing for business success.
Ethical
market conduct strengthens our customers’ trust in us leading
to long-lasting, permanent customer relationships that increase
renewals, referrals, repeat sales and persistency.
Ethical
market conduct also shields us from losses associated
with dissatisfied customers or regulators including the kind
of catastrophic monetary settlements from class action law
suits and remediation agreements.
IMSA
exists to help you and other concerned companies to fulfill
your market potential and to increase your comfort level with
the policies and procedures you have in place to support ethical
market conduct.
Why ethical market conduct assessments?
IMSA:
Some see it as a bunch of hoops to jump through to stay
competitive with the pack. Others see it as means of cleaning
up the image of life insurers, recently tarnished by scandals.
Still others see it as a golden opportunity to strengthen
the ethical and marketing culture of their company and solidify
customer relationships.
Of
course, there is truth in each one of these. Most of us
come to see IMSA in one light and then proceed to deeper
understandings. Ken Kalis came to IMSA after a 21-year career
with Prudential, then, the nation’s largest life insurer.
His career was spent entirely working in individual insurance
operations, and was capped by 5-year stint looking at process-improvement
as a way of building customer relationships.
It
was from this context that Ken first began focusing on ethical
market conduct issues. Involved from 1994 in the ACLI’s
ethical market conduct initiative, Ken was a part of the
field test of the questionnaire, the team putting together
both the original and revised Assessment Handbooks and the
teams creating the IMSA Assessors Training in 1997 and again
in 2000.
He
worked too on providing self-assessment training to companies
on-site as well as facilitating their self-assessments.
After working with more than 35 companies and personally
certifying over 20, Ken is more committed than ever to IMSA
and its mission. Currently serving on committees to revise
the Assessment Handbook and develop standards, he sees the
need for continuing improvement of the assessment process.
At the Kenneth J. Kalis Company, our desire is to help companies
achieve and maintain their IMSA membership and to deepen
their commitment
to the Principles and the Code of ethical market conduct.
KJKC is dedicated to supporting companies in these efforts,
to providing them with the expertise, experience and services
they need to make ethical market conduct a strategic factor
in building their companies’ success. We hope these pages
will provide you with some help in moving towards building
a stronger ethical market conduct culture in your organization.
The
Golden Rule
That's
the way we run our business. We think it's the way you should
run yours too. It's the basis of IMSA's Principle One of integrity
and fairness.
It underlies
the other 5 Principles too:
Customer-focused sales
and service
Fair competition
Clear and adequate customer
information
Fair and timely resolving of complaints
Ethical
supervision and monitoring of compliance
IMSA has
established a rigorous assessment process for helping companies
put in place the policies and procedures they need to build
a culture that supports the Golden Rule. Over 200 of the nations
top companies have traveled the arduous path to IMSA membership,
and, with our help, yours can too.
The Kenneth
J. Kalis Company's IMSA Team can leverage your IMSA Assessments
into an ongoing process of continuous improvement that will
point your business to world-class excellence. That's our
expertise. We translate the IMSA Principles, Questions and
Indicators into usable touchstones that will transform your
business, strengthen your relationship with your customers
and build renewal and new business income.
Of course
the process is rigorous. Like translating the text on the
right from the Greek, to Shakespearean English, to today's
International Version. Even more difficult, is putting the
Principle into practice. But with our help, you can do it.
Give us a call. The work will be long and arduous. But the
results can be everlasting.
